About this episode
The 2026 Nonprofit Outlook: What the Data Actually Says
In this episode, Doug, Emily, and Matt sit down with Sage’s nonprofit marketing lead Natalie Anderson and Julie Raskin, CFO of WMHT Public Media, to walk through Sage’s 2026 Nonprofit Outlook report and what those disruptions felt like inside a public media shop.
Julie puts a number on it. WMHT took a $1.5 million revenue hit. The response included hiring their first grants manager, and taking donations of cars, real estate, and parking spaces. Natalie sets up the report. Julie talks about living the year the report is describing.
The middle of the episode is the operational fallout: diversification and its ripple effects, grants and earned income, budget discipline and a net focus, and which sectors got hit hardest. Then they get into tech as a resilience engine, AR automation wins, forecasting, and an ROI mindset.
The through-line in the show notes is that the smartest nonprofit finance leaders have stopped chasing certainty and started building for resilience instead. Stick around for the dad joke.
