Doug Lewis: Holy moly. Kids, we're back in class hiatus. Holy moly. I don't know where that came from, but we are going to stick with that. That's going to be the theme from this welcome back episode is Holy moly. I don't know why, but that's going to be our theme nonetheless.

Matt Lescault: The hiatus we back baby.

Doug Lewis: Okay. Well, I mean, you ruined it right out the gate. We're like 15 [00:00:30] seconds into this thing and you ruined it, right? No, no, I'm really excited to be back in the saddle with the two of you guys. The hiatus is over. We've been gone for a while. My God, what's been going on? Luckily, nothing's changed at all in the accounting or technology worlds. So absolutely nothing.

Matt Lescault: Not or the world in general.

Doug Lewis: Well, yeah, that's a depressing. We don't have to get into that on this podcast. We'll save that for the other one, right? Where it just gets really weird really quickly. But listen, guys, we've been gone for a couple months now [00:01:00] and so much work has been going on behind the scenes to really revamp relaunch this entire podcast. Dare I say, the most official unofficial Sage Intacct podcast in the world? I'm going to say it. We're sticking with it. In the.

Emily Madere: World. I love it. I love it.

Doug Lewis: In the world. The most. Official and official.

Matt Lescault: Let's go.

Doug Lewis: So tons of planning, tons of planning went into this behind the scenes to get this relaunch. We're really excited about this whole new format. And you know, if anyone can't detect [00:01:30] any level of sarcasm whatsoever, quite a bit has changed in the past couple of months here. Not only the accounting technology world, but the world in general. So we're going to incorporate a ton of that in. I'll walk through the new format here in a second, but before we do that, everybody needs to know. Matt, I have had thousands and thousands and thousands of people ask me, what's going on with Matt? What's what's he been up to in the last couple months?

Emily Madere: They're beaten down, dug store to ask about Matt.

Matt Lescault: Yeah, I don't I don't believe that. But I appreciate it, Doug. And I just I just want to anchor this, you know, that [00:02:00] we haven't seen each other in this format since October.

Doug Lewis: I know I. I'm thankful for it every day. It's great.

Matt Lescault: Uh, what can I say about what I've been doing? I feel like I've done so many things. I've been to so many countries in this time period. I think since the last time we've talked. I've been to Paris, Barcelona, uh. Canada, Florida, new Jersey, whatever that looks like. [00:02:30]

Doug Lewis: Some of those were not countries I'd like to point out.

Emily Madere: I mean, we'll work on that is we're learning.

Doug Lewis: We're getting better every day. We're getting better every day.

Matt Lescault: Just saying. There's been a lot of travel. But the big thing is really the launch of Sage Intacct Accountants. What we've been working at my firm for a long, long time. Uh, I say the real launch in Canada happened here at the beginning of this year. The real launch in South Africa happened in, uh, right now in March or April now, but at the end of March, going into April. [00:03:00] Um, and it's really kind of the impetus of the thought process of part of this, this relaunch. So we'll get into that later. But that's been a big part of my life.

Doug Lewis: Quite a bit of travel internationally. Want to touch on that in a second here. But Emily, what have you been. What's been going on in the world of Emily the last couple of months?

Emily Madere: Yeah. Well, I don't I don't travel to different countries like Florida. Um, but new Jersey too, so. Oh, new Jersey too. Yeah. But but I do have some exciting news. I recently changed roles. So, um, [00:03:30] I now work at Clifton Larson Allen, which is called CLA. Um, and I'm very excited to be here. I'm very thankful for my time I spent at Eisner, but, um, I did decide to change roles. I am still going to be selling Sage Intacct. So it's still going to be deeply immersed in everything Sage and talking to clients and customers and all the things. And yeah, that's, that's pretty much what I've been been working on. I got a new driveway that was.

Doug Lewis: A new driveway. Oh, [00:04:00] tell me more. Yeah. Asphalt concrete. No. Absolutely not.

Emily Madere: It's concrete.

Doug Lewis: Good. There. We're good.

Matt Lescault: Congratulations on the new job. Seriously? I know that that's got to be a great accomplishment for you. And you know, a is a very respected firm. So good luck and, uh, go sell some shit. Honestly.

Emily Madere: And I don't need luck. I got everything I need, I got all the tools. Who needs luck? You look like me.

Matt Lescault: Okay, so remember this. Remember this.

Doug Lewis: I'm listening.

Matt Lescault: Every episode. [00:04:30] Ask her if she's hitting her targets.

Doug Lewis: I'm gonna need to see bank records, uh, bimonthly. You know, I got I got to see if these commission checks are really rolling in. Yes or no? But, uh, that is exciting. Congratulations on the new gig, Emily. Congratulations on the new driveway, too. You know, let's not overlook that. That is exciting in anybody's life.

Emily Madere: Very exciting.

Emily Madere: I have reached adulthood. That's what that means.

Doug Lewis: Yeah, well, you know, it only gets worse from here. I can promise you that. Downhill, uh, new [00:05:00] format coming up here. Two new sponsors coming on board to the pod. New format. Want to run through the format? Just in a real high level. About half of our guests that we're going to be bringing on board are going to be true. Sage insiders. People who actually have experience, know what they're talking about, can bring something intelligent to the conversation, uh, to really just kind of change the pace up because, you know, I think we all know what the three of us are ever going to put out there in the world. Uh, so that's a big part. 50% Sage insiders, the other 50%, we're going to bring some of the most influential people across accounting, [00:05:30] technology, finance that might not necessarily be Sage specific, but are going to give a really great, really exciting overall view of the industry, what's going on. And that kind of ties into what I want to talk about briefly, to give people just a little bit of a little bit of a teaser of what we're going to be focusing on here. So international name of the game. We're always going to be talking about the US market that's going to be first and foremost. But you know we are going to put this whole international global flavor on everything, how it ties [00:06:00] in, how it compares to the US markets, what people are doing overseas versus here when it comes to Sage Intacct, technology, finance, accounting, love, movies, entertainment, music, take your pick a little bit of everything. So Matt, I want to kick it over to you. What can people expect from your perspective on the new format of the podcast moving forward?

Matt Lescault: Absolutely. These are two major changes to what we're trying to deliver from a podcast perspective. First of all, bringing in the accounting side. Uh, from a, from [00:06:30] a knowledge, from a experiential, from a impact to the overall industry is so important to, I think the general listener across anything that is finance and accounting. Number two, from an international perspective, understanding how globalization is impacting firms, their clients and their clients, staff. And so for me, I think this really ties together a real subject matter [00:07:00] that isn't being talked enough in the marketplace.

Doug Lewis: Could not agree more with that and something I want to I want to kind of, I won't say tease people with, but we're going to have a little bit of a change in the format too, with some of the guests that we do bring on board are going to be what you would view as direct Sage Intacct competitors, and we're doing that on purpose. Yeah, I know right. I know we want to I want to create like a BattleBots type of. No, not at all. It's not going to be a deathmatch scenario here. What we want to do.

Matt Lescault: Why not?

Doug Lewis: Different point of view. Well, [00:07:30] I haven't been working out lately, so I don't want to get in the middle of anything. You know, deathmatch related here, Matt. But we're going to bring you different points of view that might, you know, have a friendly, spirited conversation. Differences. You know, what's similar? How do we approach things from high level, what the growth looks like inside and outside? So it's not just going to be 100% Sage Intacct focus. We're going to get points of view that are agnostic to the industry. We want to really give people an idea of what's happening out there. And what's the most influential people in the industry have to say about [00:08:00] everything that's been going on in the world? So pretty exciting stuff here moving forward. That being said, Emily, from your perspective, your point of view, what can people expect with our big new relaunch?

Emily Madere: I think you can expect to Learn more, right? We're expanding this to anything and everything the world, right? Like Sage is a big company, and I think this podcast should also be big company, touching different pieces of accounting, different pieces [00:08:30] of international flavor finance. Um, so I think you can expect to learn, um, but also cry and laugh with us.

Doug Lewis: Oh, what are you going to say that's going to be so sad. I need to know ahead of time.

Emily Madere: I don't know, I'm still thinking about it. I just felt like that was the right words to say.

Doug Lewis: No, it's very poetic and I absolutely love that we're bringing romanticism back to podcasting. That's what we're doing here and I'm really excited about it.

Matt Lescault: Wrong podcast. I'm just kidding.

Doug Lewis: That's our other one.

Doug Lewis: That's our other [00:09:00] one. My my apologies, my apologies. We won't even plug it here. Let's put it that way. Uh, speaking of plugs, new sponsors coming on board. So anyone who is interested in talking, contact us directly. We'll we'll do the best darn reads you could possibly imagine. I can promise.

Emily Madere: The best one

Doug Lewis: The best, the best.

Doug Lewis: I don't know why. I don't know why I went like just horrible Italian with that. Um, but nonetheless, it will be exciting. Will be fun. Really, really jazzed about the guests we do have coming up. And both of you know how rarely I use the term [00:09:30] jazzed. So I'm really excited about what we have in store here for our listeners and why we decided to do this whole thing. It was quite literally from the feedback of listeners, we're revamping the entire thing. So everyone who does listen, tune in, download whatever clicky click. Things that do happen behind the scenes truly get value and honestly get the most out of this whole thing. Not about us.

Emily Madere: Welove feedback, so continue to give it because that's only better.

Doug Lewis: Only positive.

Emily Madere: Oh only positive

Doug Lewis: We thrive on positive feedback, negative [00:10:00] feedback. We just shrink into little balls and just go hide in the corner. So just be really nice if you could. Matt. Closing thoughts on your end.

Matt Lescault: I'm really excited to really learn. What are the challenges that different firms are facing across the world, and how are they similar or different from what we all experience? How is technology delivered in different regions? How [00:10:30] is technology viewed and invested in? What do we see when firms start to look at more of a global perspective? I'm really interested to get their insights and really be able to deliver that to our listenership. Just like you said, if we have good content, we get great feedback. If we don't have good content, well, I think kind of speaks for itself.

Emily Madere: We're not getting any feedback.

Doug Lewis: That's that's very true. And we got a lot of it, some [00:11:00] great, some terrible whatever. Emily closing thoughts, closing arguments on your end, what can people expect? How excited are you? What's your favorite color? I don't care, this is your time. Tell us anything.

Emily Madere: No my favorite color is blue, by the way. Um, I can tell you we're going to be recording an episode this week with a very high up person at Sage. We've had him on the podcast before, and I think that episode is going to be pretty good. Um, we're going to be talking about everything Sage future. I won't give away his name. I'll keep some mystery out [00:11:30] there.

Doug Lewis: His his or her name. I don't know.

Emily Madere: His or her oopsie.

Doug Lewis: Who knows?

Emily Madere: Um, but we're going to be talking about Sage future that is coming up in less than one a week. It's going to be some very, very, very exciting stuff.

Doug Lewis: Absolutely. Honestly, really, really am truly excited. Uh, jokes aside, about everything that we're doing here behind the scenes, all the guests we already have lined up, new sponsors. Take your pick. It's going to be an exciting run here, and we really look forward to talking with all of you listeners.

Matt Lescault: Wait a second, Doug. I don't feel like we're finished with [00:12:00] this episode. There's something very unique of a staple that we always had. Where's that dad joke?

Doug Lewis: Oh, well, first off, don't come at me like that. Unexpected. I don't like that. I don't appreciate that. All right, don't put.

Doug Lewis: Baby in the corner.

Matt Lescault: Get over it,

Emily Madere: Whot put baby in a corner.

Doug Lewis: I probably will. Don't worry about it.

Doug Lewis: Yeah, well, what are you going to do? Um. Okay. Well, you know, we can do that and we're going to end it horribly. And you know what? If we can somehow edit it where there's just complete silence and put a couple crickets in there, that'd be phenomenal. But we'll leave that up to the [00:12:30] production team, huh? Who knows? So how did TV weatherman say hello to people in real life?

Matt Lescault: I don't even know where to take this.

Emily Madere: Yeah, he he snowed on them, I don't know.

Doug Lewis: He did snow on them. That was the punchline

Matt Lescault: He blew them away.

Emily Madere: He blew them away. That's a good one.

Doug Lewis: That is a really good one. But he does it with heat waves.

Emily Madere: Oh, I haven't heard that one before.

Matt Lescault: We're going. We're going into summer. That's just as depressing. [00:13:00]

Doug Lewis: It is. And that's why we're going to have silence and crickets. Perfect way to end this one, but really excited to take this journey with you guys. Really excited about the new format. I cannot emphasize how fun this is going to be moving forward for everybody.

Emily Madere: Excited.

Matt Lescault: Awesome. I'm looking forward to it.
